Annie Ruttkay

Special Counsel

Born and raised in California, Annie Ruttkay is a 2018 graduate of the University of California, Davis, with degrees in International Relations and Spanish. There, she was elected to serve as a Student Senator, in which her responsibilities included managing the University's 12-million-dollar budget allocated to programs for students and helped implement new policies and regulations for the student body. 

She obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2021 from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. While in law school, Annie won CALI Excellence Awards for the highest scoring grades in her class in Civil Practice & Procedure II and Evidence in Practice. Annie also served as a member on the Oklahoma City Law Review and published a comment on Oklahoma’s Stand Your Ground laws. She was also a member of the International Legal Honor Society of Phi Delta Phi, and served in an elected position as Vice President.

After law school, sensing a call to help others, Annie served as an Assistant Public Defender in Oklahoma County from September of 2021 to March of 2023. There, she managed a felony docket of approximately 80-100 individual cases. She gained experience conducting preliminary hearings, evidentiary hearings, revocation hearings, jury trials, bench trials, and blind pleas. After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Annie went into private practice as a criminal defense attorney. She serves as Special Counsel for Bennett Vernier on criminal matters, including criminal FOP Legal Defense cases and is a Certified Force Science® Analyst.

In her spare time, Annie enjoys going to concerts, traveling, and playing sand volleyball with friends.
